All the contests we go to except Division I are divided into classes according to the number of winds or total musicians.  At some contests, awards are given not only in individual classes but by division.  A division is created by combining two or more classes.

Division I is determined by school size alone.  Schools that have 500 or less students in grades 9 - 12 may compete at Division I regardless of band size.  It is everybody against everybody.
